I just want to contradict another reviewer’s comments that these performances are not up to par. I think they are wonderful. Many bluegrass musicians like myself are getting to see renditions of songs and tunes, and those of us that study the nuances of Scruggs-style picking are finding endless examples of how Earl really played them. It would be possible but very improbable for any group to have the same energy in a TV studio that they had live at Carnegie Hall. To me, it is even more enlightening to see them in a relaxed atmosphere. The quality from tune to tune is extraordinary and shows their consistency and professionalism. I will buy every one they ever produce.

Lambchop circa 1992
J. Luck posted a photo:
I saw this in a store and said, omg lambchop...I used to love lambchop when I was little, lol
In 1992, Lamb Chop and Shari began their own PBS children's show, Lamb Chop's Play-Along, an Emmy Award winner for five consecutive years. The show lasted approximately 25 minutes per episode. On PBS, it premiered January 1, 1992 and was last shown on January 1, 1997.

I bought some years ago Vega$ the complete series in [...]. It was not an original release but I wanted to see again my beloved Robert Urich in one of my favourite Tv shows I used to watch on TV.
When I knew that Vega$ was going to have an official release I was so happy that I wanted to buy it so I could get better image/sound quality. Unfortunately it is a Vol 1. Are you nuts? We are in a serious economical crisis all over the world. We are not going to pay twice for a show when others are being released completely.
Sorry, but I will continue watching my bootleg dvd’s.
It’s a pity that after poor sales Vega$ will not continue on DVD(YES, WE KNOW IN ADVANCE THAT IT WILL BE THAT WAY – BECAUSE OF SOME STUPID EXECUTIVES).
But I encourage all fans to do some preasure. I was one of the fans who fought to get the release of the 5th season of THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW. And we did it after all! (THANKS OPRAH!)
So, anything goes!. Let’s fight against the studios and get the complete series out.
Let’s do it for us and for Robert Urich. He deserves it!
The late Robert Urich portraying “Dan Tanna” falls prey as another victim of the Evil Empire know as CBS Home Entertainment/Paramount Home Entertainment. “Vega$” was a great show, albeit short-lived starring Robert Urich and a cast of dozens of recognizable character actors.
At the moment of this review, we are looking at a measly 11 episodes at a cost of over $2.50 an episode. Fellow Americans, we must stop this extortion by CHE/PHE by Just Saying NO! Enough is enough! And does anyone know if there are any music issues here? I say NO SALE to these greedy bums; don’t let them Emptor your Caveat!
SO many people I know have been waiting for this to come out on DVD…Its been 30 years!! Its about time and I am so grateful. However, the whole first season should have been released as a set, and then the second, and then the third- just like they do with show seasons now. I hope they don’t wait very long to release the second volume and subsequent seasons. Vega$ is a classic that preserves Old Vegas-a gift, given the dramatic change Las Vegas has gone through over the past 30 years. Can’t wait to own!!
I Have Enjoyed reading some customer reviews regarding the TV series “VEGA$” and am ecstatic about it being released on DVD.Some reviews sound apologetic about Season 1 episodes but let me assure readers that these episodes more than set the tone for future ones. This series created Rob Urich’s 1st hit having been on several short-lived series before. It introduced viewers to a part of the country never covered like this before, and made a star of Judy Landers, whose poster still beautifies my walls to this day.Several series have gone the Season 1,Vol. 1 route before and have continued to be released ,such as “Streets of San Francisco”,”Love Boat”,so this is not uncommon.I figure it’s very pricey to digitally re-master anything, and Vol.1 issues are a safe way to make profit.I can only say as an avid fan and person who never believed his absolute favorite series would be made available that paying their price is well worth what I’m getting.I’m sure all buyers will appreciate this series as much as I have.
I absolutely LOVED THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!! As a kid I watched it live and loved it so much – yes, Charlie’s Angels, Starsky and Hutch, Love Boat and Fantasy Island TOO but this one I never thought would be released on dvd!! When I first started dating, I would come home and watch late night tv with my mom (10pm curfew…the old days) and this was one of my favorite childhood shows that was repeating at the time at 11pm, so there are great memories from the first airing when I was little and the repeats as a teenager(12am was Trapper John MD and 1 am was Love Boat-after dates were better than the dates!). I am about halfway through my dreadful vhs tapes of this show (transferring to dvd)- I only have about half the episodes, and they were repeats on TNT’s Lunchbox TV in the mid-90’s and they are in such poor condition, I’m just thrilled to get some in quality condition and will inevitably get my hopes up that I’ll get them all eventually.
The only reason it might be tied for the best release this year is because it’s been a good year for us fans of 70’s shows with the constant release of more Love Boat episodes, finally the 4th season of Charlie’s Angels, another season of Taxi on it’s way and the long awaited but finally given up on (prior to the miraculous announcement)of the second season of Knots Landing (not a 70’s show but still qualifies as a childhood favorite). It took so long for some of these, it leaves me in a position of perpetual hope that it will never be too late for a network to get their head out of their collective…or for someone else like SHOUT to buy the rights to some of the greatest shows ever made – dated as they may be.
HOWEVER………….I agree with everyone about this partial season garbage. I am so absolutely FED UP with that bull – If you’re going to test it out, either test a cheap half season or make us pay what’s necessary to produce a full season but to charge full price for a half season? This isn’t 2006 – Let’s not forget we’re in a major recession with huge unemployment, not a whole lot of entertainment money left in the budget and you’re gonna take this opportunity to join in with so many other institutions and stick it to us regular people right when we’re hurting the most? It’s more than the adult birthday budget in my family (which is getting less and less the older we get and less money we have!!!!! How about this…earn my loyalty for life (networks)and cut your prices for all your “half season” releases until this economic nightmare is over – I don’t mean “pretend” over, I mean low unemployment over. At least Amazon has more reasonable prices compared to everywhere else but they can only go so low when the people releasing it charge an arm and a leg to begin with.
Okay back to the point, Dan Tanna is the greatest!!!!!
Wow, talk about fast releases! I am not even finished viewing The Donna Reed Show’s Second Season and Arts Alliance announced that Season Three will be available to purchase on October 20th,2009! In this Season 3, there are 38 episodes which will be featured on 4 discs with bonus material. With only 5 more seasons to follow, it looks like we’ll have The Donna Reed Show’s complete series faster than any series ever put on dvd. I just hope in all this speed that they keep the film quality as good as the first 2 seasons, as the quality is good, but not great. After seeing The Lucy Show’s remastered quality that is almost pristine perfect, this show looks passably good, and I hope they keep it this way.
In this third season, daughter Mary is now 16 and learning to drive. Brother Jeff is now a teenager himself at age 13. Donna Stone starts to show a little “woman’s liberation” when she wants to start her own business and teaches a Japanese Geisha wife how to become more American by not catering so much to her husband. There are great guest star appearances as well by Jay North as Dennis the Menace and poor Mr. Wilson, along with Tony Martin, Harvey Korman, Jack Albertson, George Sidney and more. It’s another great season in the Stone family as you watch family life in America in 1960 and 1961!

and so quickly! Wow, nice not having to wait forever for subsequent seasons to be released! This series is highly recommended to fans of wholesome family sitcoms of the 1950s. I watched this show for years when it was running on Nick at Nite back in the mid 1980s & it’s been virtually extinct in reruns ever since, so to have this on DVD & to acquire & own all seasons is a MUST for those of us who truly appreciate classic television from a time that is so precious. The Donna Reed Show is excellent in every way.
I wrote a review which covers all of the seasons of this show. They are great, and I can hardly wait for it to be available.
Thanks,
Gail
I purchased all these old Flatt and Scruggs TV Shows and I’m really enjoying them. Brings back a lot of memories of a simpler time in America. Flatt and Scruggs laid the ground work and set the standard for the live music TV show. Lester and Earl had a great band and Lester had a way of moving the show along so there was no dead air time. Great addition to my collection and something you would be proud to pass on to family members.
This is an awesome series of DVD’s that should be in every Bluegrass music fan’s collection! True, down-home Bluegrass doesn’t get any better than the early Flatt & Scruggs versions and the fact that it’s a trip back in time to watch these shows, which were recorded live, is just icing on the cake!
Buy them all—you won’t regret it!
And, to The Powers That Be: More! We want More of this series! ;o)
i have purchaged four of flatt & scruggs tv shows i think they are GREAT
i will buy any more that comes out they are WONDERFUL
Two more outstanding performances from recently discovered videotapes of the Flatt & Scruggs TV show.
This volume is worth the price for the performance of “Cabin On The Hill”, one of Lester and Earl’s best songs, on the first show.
The second show features Earl’s son Randy, now a successful record producer in his own right, playing the autoharp.
